Jenny Richardson

Jenny is a Myotherapist who has over 18 years of experience in treating clients with pain and injuries.
She has a Diploma in Remedial Massage, an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy and a Bachelor of Science (Honours). Her research explored what experienced massage therapists consider important when treating people with pain.

After 11 years in the public service, Jenny did a number of things while searching for a career that was more meaningful and rewarding – but fell into massage by accident. She is so glad she did. She discovered she is passionate about understanding how the body works and using this to help clients with chronic pain.

Jenny has been fortunate enough to study with some of the great teachers and therapists who believe in finding the source of the pain rather than just treating a symptom. Everyone’s body is different – so there are no “one size fits all” treatments:  the answer to YOUR pain lies in your unique patterns.

The process most likely to help find the physical source of ongoing pain or unhealed injury is when Jenny and the client work together to find out what has happened to your body in the past – and untangle how that might be contributing to what is going on now.

Jenny has trained in the following modalities and uses them as relevant within treatments:

  • Fascial Manipulation
  • Neurokinetic Therapy
  • Selective Functional Movement
  • Myofascial release
  • Onsen Therapy/ Muscle Energy Technique
  • STRAIT Method of scar release
  • Orthopedic Massage
  • Structural assessment and correction
  • Oncology massage
  • Pregnancy Massage

Over recent years, Jenny has come to realise the strong correlation between chronic pain and hypermobility and similar connective tissue disorders and now supports a significant number of clients who are hypermobile. She has completed the EDS ECHO program run by the Ehlers Danlos Society and is planning to undertake research in this field in the near future.
